Directed by Carroll Ballard
(at Valley Court behind Beaner’s)
Don’t miss the sleeper of the year! DUMA is a beautiful, touching, film about a boy who tries to return his friend, a cheetah, back to the wild. He travels through the wilds of South Africa and encounters many adventures along the way. This gorgeous film is directed by Carroll Ballard who has made other magnificent films such as THE BLACK STALLION, FLY AWAY HOME and NEVER CRY WOLF.
The whole family will love this authentic film that treats the audience with respect and intelligence. Not a drop of Disney dumbing down anywhere. The film is rated PG and is 100 minutes long. This film is sponsored by the East Lansing Children’s Film Festival.

The Five main characters we are looking to cast include:
Steve - Sidekick to main character (Caesar or “C"), solid #2 man in the movie. Looks up to and has learned a lot from C (who is the quintessential alpha male). Is endearing, confident and cool; however, was likely somewhat of a cool geek in high school and came into his own under the guidance of C. He wouldn’t be part of the cool crowd if the main character hadn’t taken him under his wing, but has the personality to fit in nevertheless. Has more sensitivity than the lead character, but tries to hide it.
Wendell - Overweight, socially awkward student in class. Very nave and sheltered. Kind of guy who came from a small town and has never been to a party. Bad with women because he has had zero experience. Obsessed with the “Back to the Future” movies. Very likable because he is so innocent.
Brian - Obnoxious student in the class, but likable do to his authenticity. Always says what’s on his mindnot because he’s trying to be a jerk it’s just what he does. Often acts the part of the Village Idiot. Is very forward with women, who always reject his advances. A slovenly drunk to boot.
Darren - Likely African-American. Biggest nerd of the group. Lives in his parents’ basement. Passes out after one drink. Always carries a laptop.
Waitress - Cool, laid back, artistic personality. A slightly sarcastic and quick wit.
