When:

March 17-19, 2006

Where:
Over one weekend, filmmaking teams have just 48 hours to make a 5-minute short film. From beginning to end, all production, from scriptwriting to final credits, must take place within the designated time frame. At the start of the event, each group will choose from a hat, the genre of its film, a prop, a line of dialogue and a character. All of these randomly selected elements must be evident in the film for it to be eligible for an award. The contest will begin at 7pm on Friday, March 17 and end at 7pm on Sunday, March 19 at Magdalena's Teahouse in Lansing (see map). All on-time, finished films will be screened that evening to the competing teams and festival jurors. Films received on Sunday, March 17 after the 7pm deadline may be screened at ELFF's discretion but are not eligible for any awards. The best films will be shown again during the film festival at the Lake Michigan Film Competition Awards Ceremony on Sunday, March 26 at 7pm in Wells Hall on MSU's campus. This fun, exhilarating contest is for anyone up to the challenge - you can be the casual or the professional filmmaker. The cost of registering is $40 per team. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Mailed forms must be received by March 16. Registration at the kick-off meeting at Magdalena's Teahouse is permitted from 6:00-6:30 pm. Please arrive early as the kick-off begins promptly at 7:00 pm. > Complete List of rules: download > > Participation agreement: download > > Competition checklist: download > > Liability release: download
